  • Club Captain's Welcome

As club captain of New Ross Rugby Football Club it gives me great pleasure to welcome all players, members, supporters, officials and visiting teams to FBD park for what is sure to be an exciting season of rugby. To all of our new members, we welcome you and look forward to you taking part with the club.

It is an honour to have been elected as the first female club captain of New Ross RFC, for the forthcoming season of 2024/25. I feel honoured, privileged and appreciate the support and good wishes for the upcoming season. Since joining New Ross RFC aged 16 I have witnessed how much the club means to the community and to our members, therefore, it is not a role I will take lightly.

There is huge excitement within the senior squads ahead of the upcoming season and the challenges that lie ahead. Having completely disbanded in 2016, our senior women’s team have thrived in the past few years and will now compete for the Leinster League Division 1 title. Furthermore, having reached the semifinal of the Paul Flood cup last year, eyes are certainly now on the prize. The senior men’s team 1sts look forward to building on last years standings in Leinster league Division 2A with a panel of exciting depth. The 2nds will continue their endeavours in Division 2A following an impressive contest last season. They will also compete in the southeast league and towns cup. The youths and minis are an integral part of our club. They are the most important building block in the community, and without them, the parents and coaches, our great club would cease to have a purpose. Across all youths sections, teams have been thriving and I have no doubt we will see some more silverware being produced from these talented squads.

I would like to sincerely thank all of our volunteers for all of the time and effort they put in to our club. This does not go unnoticed and is extremely valued. This support is extremely important to the club as future developments are on the horizon.

I would also like to thank our main sponsors FBD for their continued generosity towards the club and this support allows us to compete at all levels.

I would like to extend a warm welcome to incoming members of the committee and thank all members who are outgoing. Again, your hard work and dedication does not go unnoticed and is integral to the runnings of the club. I look forward to collaborating with the current committee.

Furthermore, I would like to thank all of our loyal supporters who travel on match days to cheer us on despite the rain, hail, snow and sunshine (albeit it rare). Your support is significant and not to be under estimated.

Finally, I would like to wish all players, coaches and anyone connected to the club the best of luck for the season ahead. I look forward to meeting you at matches, club events and hopefully celebrations at the end of the season.

    Yours in rugby,

    Emma Flood

  • Inclusivity

From the very highest levels of World Rugby down through national and provincial rugby to New Ross RFC, there is an indisptuable belief that everyone should have the right to be a part of rugby regardless of their national, racial or ethnic origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, language, religion, politics or any other reason.

We offer the chance for everybody in the local community around New Ross to play, coach, referee or otherwise partake in rugby. We want to put a smile on the face of every single person who walks through the gates at Southknock.

We have children, from many diverse backgrounds, playing in our minis and youths teams. We were one of the first clubs to create an incusive adaptive tag rugby team for adults with a disability, the Dunbrody Warriors. We also support and host our own open days over the summer months to help introduce children and parents (especially those who may have moved to the area recently) to our rugby club and what we can offer them.

We want to give children a reason to dream about rugby, regardless of their ability, fitness level, gender, disability or ethnicity.

  • Community

New Ross RFC is much more than a sports club; it is an integral part of the New Ross community. Through its community events, most recently a Lip Sync Battle, and Open Days, the club has embedded itself deeply in the social fabric of the area. It not only promotes the sport of rugby but also fosters community spirit, making the club and important part of life in New Ross.

We also have a vibrant clubhouse which is available to members for family celebrations, fundraisers, and to the local Country Market on Fridays. The club's ongoing success is a testament to the strength of its community ties and the dedication of everyone involved.

Marching in the annual St. Patricks Day Parade, running rugby summer camps for children and participation in Sports Active Family Fun Days are all ways that we help to grow rugby and the club, within the local community.

The club is of course aware of the positive influence that rugby has on the health and fitness of its members - both physical and mental. With the health of the wider community in mind, the club also hosted a fundraiser for two defibrillators in New Ross town which continue to be maintained by the club.

Please contact us on rugby@nrrfc.ie if you would like us to support/attend any community event that you might be holding. We're always happy to help promote the club at opportunies around the town and locality.

  • Fundraising

In addition to sponsorship, we also carry out a number of fundraising activites throughout the year and your continued support for these is hugely appreciated.

    Club Lotto

Our lotto runs weekly with draws held every Wednesday night at 20:00 at the clubhouse. All proceeds go towards the day to day running of the club. Results of the lotto are posted weekly on our facebook page.

We'd encourage all club members and other community members to play the lotto if possible. It's never been easier to play and you can now opt for auto-renewal and never have to worry about missing a draw again!

We've got a great group of people who distribute tickets, collect tickets and run the draws but could always do with more help. Please contact us if you can help with this vital fundraiser.
